A Far-off Swim

alternative pipol

45 minutes away from Baguio is la Union. If you are tired of the hot spring that the coldest city offers, la Union is the most convenient place to go –that is if you refuse to go some distance.
Naguilian is the opening municipality of la Union from Baguio. Tricycle drivers greet you warmly after a bus stop at its municipal hall. With your 10 peso coin, you can actually choose from many resorts near the place.
Choosing atypical resort is a real rural experience. After more than ten murky pools from fields that a motorcycle will traverse, you will find yourself amidst an almost valley haven. An elegant house stands proudly amidst a rice field. Beside is an out-of-place sticker of a pool in a rice field. Got the picture? It’s a rice field actually with an exposed pool in a quiet valley.
While you dip yourself in the pool, you have the opportunity to gaze at the flying mayas and check some cattle enjoying the mud bath. Then swim like the ordinary resort, clean and safe, until you exhaust at the end of the day. The day is even made perfect by the gray sky -no sun to burn your skin, no rain to transform the pool to be icy cold. Just a perfect day you sleep at night smiling.
